Issue Description
I am evaluating the D555 for a product and I am confused about the firmware release status.
The production firmware page for D500 (https://dev.realsenseai.com/docs/firmware-release-d500/) still lists only two versions, the newest being 7.56.19919.4144 from November 2025 (page last updated February 2026).
Meanwhile the Early Access page (https://dev.realsenseai.com/docs/firmware-early-access-release-d500/) has been updated continuously and now lists 7.58.40915.14272 (August 2026, SDK 2.58.4), with the entire 7.58.x line available only as Early Access. That page explicitly states these builds "were not fully validated and are provided as technical preview".
So for roughly the last ten months, every new D555 firmware has been Early Access only.
My questions:
Is a production release of the 7.58.x line planned? If so, is there a target timeframe (even a quarter)? If a specific date cannot be shared, could you at least say whether it is weeks, months, or not currently scheduled?
What is gating GA? Is the 7.58.x branch expected to become the production firmware as-is after validation, or is production tracking a different branch?
Is the production page simply stale? It was last updated in February 2026 while the EA page was updated much more recently. Is 7.56.19919.4144 genuinely still the latest recommended production firmware for D555?
What is the recommended firmware for shipping products today? Should customers deploying D555 in production stay on 7.56.19919.4144 and forgo the newer features, or is running an Early Access build considered acceptable for production use? What is the support posture for EA firmware if we hit a bug?
Feature availability. Several features I need (e.g. the Improved Close Range Depth embedded filter added in SDK 2.58.x) appear to require the 7.58.x firmware. Are those features available at all on the production 7.56.19919.4144 firmware? If not, is there any way to use them without moving to an EA build?
Thank you.
