Which layer each kind of engineering maps to

Structure, information, materials, and interface each map to a layer. Do not collapse them into one line of copy.

Engineering splits into branches because the materials and the scale differ. Split a content system the same way, or one tool will be asked to solve every problem.

Structural work asks whether the whole thing stands. That is information architecture: where the definition of one subject lives, how sections avoid contradicting each other, and which page wins when an old article and a new one overlap. If the structure is wrong, a clear article is still overturned by another page.

Information and communication ask whether a signal arrives and can be decoded. That is the order of titles, headings, tables, steps, and sources. Most GEO rewriting belongs here: make the signal decodable, not the sentence prettier.

Materials ask whether what you are using is fit. That is sources, data, terms, and images. Bad material cannot be saved by structure. A figure with no time range is still uncitable inside a beautiful table.

Interface asks how someone meets the finished thing. Readers and answer engines read differently. A person scans. A model extracts entities and relations. Both readings have to work on the same page. Two drifting texts will not do.

When you edit, name the layer. If the rejection is about material, do not answer it by changing only the title on the interface.
