Clarify provenance and permission for detect-20241225.ckpt (beta-0.3)

Author: GyliardsonCreated Aug 11, 2026Updated Aug 11, 2026

Hi — MangaSensei is documenting provenance and permission for the exact detector checkpoint distributed in beta-0.3:

  • detect-20241225.ckpt
  • 308,380,176 bytes
  • SHA-256 67ce1c4ed4793860f038c71189ba9630a7756f7683b1ee5afb69ca0687dc502e

This is a provenance/permission clarification request, not a request for legal advice or for relicensing.

Could a maintainer please clarify:

  1. Was this checkpoint produced by the manga-image-translator maintainers / zyddnys?
  2. Is it a modification/retraining of the older detect.ckpt, a newly trained checkpoint, or derived from another model/project?
  3. What explicit license or permission applies to this exact checkpoint?
  4. Does that permission cover downloading/acquisition, local execution, and ephemeral execution on a hosted CI runner such as GitHub Actions?
  5. Separately, is redistribution of this checkpoint permitted, and under what conditions?
  6. Is there training/model provenance downstream projects should record, including material dataset/base-model licensing considerations?
  7. Issue #444 documented a Modified-MIT-style grant for older named models including detect.ckpt. If that same grant is intended to cover detect-20241225.ckpt, could you state that explicitly for this checkpoint?

Thank you.
