Arrange sessions in a grid
The Agents window previously supported showing sessions side by side. Sessions can now be arranged in a two-dimensional grid, with nested horizontal and vertical splits that persist across reloads.
Open the Agents window and create or open at least three sessions with some conversation history. Include an unsent draft in one of them.
Drag and drop
- Drag sessions from the sidebar onto different edges of an open session. Verify the drop indicator makes the resulting placement clear.
- Build a layout containing both rows and columns, then move sessions between different positions.
- Resize the panes using their sashes. Make sure the layout remains usable at different window sizes.
- Close and reopen a session from the grid. Existing conversations and unsent drafts in the other panes should remain intact.
Layout actions
Explore the related commands in the Command Palette:
- Move focus between sessions in each direction.
- Move sessions around the grid and resize panes with the keyboard commands.
- Arrange the sessions into a balanced grid.
- Maximize one session and restore the full grid.
Do the actions, labels, and resulting layouts feel predictable?
Restore
Reload the Agents window and verify the grid arrangement, pane sizes, active session, and maximized state are restored. Resize the window between narrow and wide layouts and confirm returning to the wide layout restores the desktop grid.
