Changing image when selecting variants.

I see this functionality is probably missing.

Use case: I have a product in multiple color and size variants. In Shopify admin pane I can add separate image for every variant but when selecting variant on the user side the image in the gallery isn't updated.

I'd expected that when someone is selecting specific colour variant, the image get's changed. For example in this demo: https://demo.vercel.store/product/acme-cup?color=Black

When users chooses "White" the active image in the gallery should change.

I'm relatively new to Shopify but with some guidance I'm glad to implement this feature.
