What problem would this solve?

I've found another post of this but it's not the implementation I would like.

I've gotten extremely used to the fact that when I am writing in just about any online platform, certain symbol sets are converted to emojis. Such as :-)->

Because this doesn't seem possible in Memos, and it's become such a natural part of my typing. I find myself constantly having to backspace these as I write them.

Love them or hate them, emojis have been standardised by Unicode and should generally be included anywhere that they can be rendered with other unicode text.

Rather than get into an argument or rock pelting contest like I saw in another issue. Would you accept a PR if I was to take this on myself?

What would you like to happen?

A feature that turns simple face symbols etc. into emojis and/or alternatively a standard Unicode emoji picker.
