MacOs client doesn't mark existing mail conversations as new when a new mail arrived

What happened?

When I receive E-mails in the client that belong to an already existing conversation that conversation is correctly moved to the top but it doesn't become bold like a new message without existing conversation would. Making it very ambiguous if that conversation has a new message. It just looks like all the other already read conversations even if it has a new still unread mail. This makes using the client very cumbersome.
