Stellarium runs in the background without any user interaction and keeps using up more and more memory
Question: What is Stellarium doing in the background?
I’ve noticed this for a while, but I just checked the Task Manager in Windows 11.
I launched Stellarium today with 0.9 GB in memory. After 5 hours of minimal activity (a few angle measure actions, turning the coordinate grid on a few times, and being away for an hour), it’s up to 4.4 GB. The CPU is consistently running at 1–5% even when I’m not doing anything.
I ALWAYS have the running time turned off. I set a new time using the date and time window.
I suspect that the coordinates are continuously recalculated in the background so that the program can jump to the current time immediately?
So far, I’ve been restarting Stellarium after a few hours. Is there another solution for this?
Windows 11 Stellarium 26.2
