Providing an API

Hi, I'm the maintainer of Riff, a spotify desktop client in gtk4+libadwaita and I am thinking about ditching librespot in favour of spotifyd. This is because spotifyd already has a very mature codebase and supports many features like connect, etc.

Do you think it would be desirable to expose some API to make it useable locally, instead of going through connect? Of course, I would be interested in maintaining this.

I just wanted to know if this is desirable, otherwise I unfortunately would have to fork it or make my own daemon, which would duplicate our efforts, and that isn't a good thing

Of course I would love for it to be an HTTP API, as it is super simple and very nice to use, but I'm down for other possibilities too :)
