Does disabling Intel GPU dithering (via ditherig.exe) improve MacType rendering quality?

@snowie2000 Hi,

I’ve been experimenting with font rendering on Intel graphics and wanted to get your technical perspective on combining MacType with a utility called ditherig.exe.

For context, ditherig.exe is a lightweight tool designed to disable hardware-level temporal/spatial dithering (FRC) on Intel Integrated Graphics, preventing the GPU from rapidly alternating pixel states to simulate deeper color depths.

In your opinion, does disabling GPU dithering have a noticeable impact on MacType's font smoothing, or is the difference largely negligible?

Specifically, I would appreciate your insight on how this affects:

  1. Subpixel (RGB) rendering: Does eliminating micro-flicker on individual subpixels improve clarity or reduce color fringing/artifacts around letter edges?
  2. Grayscale rendering: Does removing GPU dithering help maintain cleaner, more solid alpha-blended gray transitions without luminance noise?

Thanks for your time and for maintaining this great project!
