Screen security breaks accessibility tools during setup

Overall summary

Blind and low-vision computer users cannot install Signal Desktop on their Windows laptop and complete setup independently. When I installed Signal on a laptop running Freedom Scientific Fusion 2026 Professional (this by extension runs JAWS 2026 and ZoomText 2026) Signal window turned black. After closing the tool temporarily to complete setup it worked fine and I was able to turn off screen security and use my accessibility tools

Steps to reproduce

1. Install or open Freedom Scientific Fusion 2026
2. Open it
3. Try to install Signal Desktop on Windows
4. See black screen caused by screen security

Expected result

Ideally during setup/launch if Freedom Scientific Fusion (JAWS/ZoomText), NVDA, or other known accessibility tools that rely on screen access Signal should turn off and warn the user that they are using an accessibility tool and ask for permission to turn it off and explain the privacy risk. There needs to be some discussion to get the wording right and protect the broader community by bad actors who will try to misuse these tools for malware targeting Signal users.

Actual result

Screen security does not even let you scan the QR code and go to settings to disable screen security. This could place Signal users who are blind, low-vision, or use these tools for another reason (dyslexia for instance) in a dangerous situation if they cannot use Signal when coordinating an escape from a domestic violence situation.
