Ultra high memory usage on Linux

• I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

I am using Ubuntu 2024.4. I am using Signal Desktop 7.88.0 production. When I start signal up (from the get go), it is using over 1 terabyte of memory. The CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz, and I have 64GiB RAM

I have 4 people I'm chatting with; none are particularly data intensive, certainly not anything near a terabyte of storage worth.

Steps to reproduce

Run signal-desktop on linux.
Run top watch for signal-desktop to show up in the list of processes Observe the excessive virtual memory usage.

Expected result

Memory (both resident and virtual) should be commensurate with actual number of channels, and should be more like a gigabyte or less.
