[Enhancement] Always online in the background

What problem is solved by the new feature Airdrop on Apple does not need receiving device to be inside an app to receive. Whenever I try to send something from my PC to my phone:
- intuitively I open the website on PC
- then I need to open my phone and open pairdrop
- switch back to PC to send
- switch to phone to receive.
The second and third points could be dropped for a more seamless experience.
Describe the feature I would like the web app to be always online in the background so that it sends a notification that someone is trying to send me something then I can accept.
If anyone knows a thirdparty app that does this, that is it keeps my phone client online and visible to other clients on my pairdrop server, please do tell me about it.
