Is there any plan for self-hosted generic OpenID authentication?

I see that there is an outstanding PR (#192) for this, but it has stagnated to the point that it is no longer a trivial merge.

If it's in the works then I'll hang on, but otherwise I might try to find the time to make that PR work.
