OSC 133 k=r/k=s (commit 31982e2, #2954) causes input line flicker with third-party widgets that call `zle reset-prompt`
Author: yng87Created Jul 18, 2026Updated Jul 18, 2026
Since commit 31982e2 (#2954, 2026-06-02), the input line flickers whenever a third-party widget calls zle reset-prompt.
Reproduction
- p10k at
a0c9dbe8(current HEAD) - Pure preset (
config/p10k-pure.zsh) zeno.zshwithbindkey ' ' zeno-auto-snippet(the widget ends withzle reset-prompt)- Terminal: reproduced on both Ghostty and Alacritty (not terminal-specific)
- Type
g+ Space → expands togit, but the input line flickers for ~1 frame
Workaround
Pin to the commit before 31982e2:
[plugins.powerlevel10k]
github = 'romkatv/powerlevel10k'
rev = '604f19a9'Notes
- The commit message says "for iTerm2 >= 3.7.0", but the flicker reproduces on non-iTerm2 terminals. Is the emission intended to be unconditional, or should it be gated on iTerm2?
- Replacing zle reset-prompt with zle -R in the widget does not fix it, suggesting the flicker is triggered at the redraw level.
