Remapped Left CTRL to Right Alt failed

I remapped Left CTRL to the Right Alt and it does not seem to work. I use it to select objects in a game and assign to a number. Before my Left CTRL (only Ctrl key on laptop) would be used in conjunction with a number key to assign to a specific group of selected objects in a game. Since my Left CTRL has now failed, I wanted to use a different key
