Rails 8 +importmap? +propshaft? +esbuild? +?? = PITA

I'm always frustrated when something that should be straightforward for a novice takes hours and days for a pro.

I've just tried -- for many, many hours, with lots of workarounds and whatnot, to sort the setup with the latest and greatest Rails defaults. It did not work. I tried both using files from inside the Ruby gem -- and from inside the JS package, I tried pinning a lot explicitly, but nothing finally led to completion.

I really want a simplest guide updated for the latest version of Rails with this setup: importmap, propshaft and tailwind (so the main app runs on tailwind, and all the rails_admin's stuff is separately run with propshaft or whatever. Or you know, any configurations actually supported would be nice to have described.
