Install step missing (submodule update init recursive)

Describe the bug

Minimal install works, but needs one final step to run. This is perhaps something obvious to poeple familiar with the workflow, but one additional final command was necessary for me:

git submodule update --init --recursive

Might be helpful to add this to the readme.
