GitHub Android App → Intermittent issue where tapping "Share" navigates back instead of opening share options

Environment

App Version: 1.229.1

Device: Poco X3

OS Version: Android 11 (RKQ1.200826.002)

Network: Wi-Fi and Mobile Data

Reproducibility: Intermittent (occurs approximately 1 out of 3 attempts)

Preconditions

User is logged in to the GitHub Android application.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the GitHub Android app.
2. Navigate to any public repository or your profile.
3. Tap the three dots (⋮) menu.
4. Tap Share.
5. Observe behavior.

Expected Result

The Android share sheet should appear, allowing the user to share the repository or profile link.

Actual Result

Occasionally (e.g., on the third attempt), the app navigates back to the previous screen instead of opening the share sheet.

Additional Notes

• Issue occurs both when sharing a profile and a repository.
• Reproduced intermittently, without a consistent trigger.
• Tested on another device (Samsung, Android 13) — not reproducible.
• Might be related to Android 11’s intent handling behavior.
