Add in-app auto-update check for desktop builds

Currently the desktop builds (Windows .msi/.exe, macOS .dmg, Linux .deb/.AppImage) have no update mechanism — users have to manually check Releases and reinstall. For a tool that ships frequent builds (multiple releases a week per the Actions history), this is a real gap for anyone running the desktop app long-term.
