Describe the solution you'd like

There is no setting to make modifiers take priority over paint. As of now, adding a modifier to an already-painted object will make the paint take precedence over the modifier.

For example: the base model is white, the paint is red, and the modifier (text or SVG) is black.

I would expect the black modifier to apply over the red paint, but it seems like the paint takes precedence. A toggle or setting
