Status report: Success with AirportItlwm and Intel Bluetooth under macOS Tahoe – current AWDL issues

Hello OpenIntelWireless developers,

first of all, I would like to share some positive results regarding Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support under macOS Tahoe.

Using the following approach:

• AirportItlwm 2.3.0 (Ventura)
• OCLP Modern Wi-Fi Root Patch
• Broadcom IOName spoofing
• Latest IntelBluetoothFirmware and IntelBTPatcher.kext provided by @Vinhts and @Z3c0ld
• BlueToolFixup.kext 2.7.2

the following Intel chipsets have been reported working under macOS Tahoe using the approach described below:

• Intel AX210
• Intel AX201 CNVW
• Intel 3165
• Intel 7260

Detailed testing in my own environment was performed with Intel AX210 and Intel BE200.

Current status on AX210, AX201 CNVW, 3165 and 7260 (based on community testing):

• Wi-Fi functional
• Bluetooth functional
• Bluetooth controller detected correctly
• Bluetooth pairing and connections functional
• AirPlay functional
• Screen Mirroring functional
• Handoff functional

Recent re-testing with Intel AX210 (Wi-Fi 6 / Bluetooth 5.3) and Intel BE200 (Wi-Fi 7 / Bluetooth 5.4) further confirmed that the latest IntelBluetoothFirmware package and IntelBTPatcher fixes successfully restore Bluetooth functionality under macOS Tahoe 26.5 and later.

Bluetooth controller detection, device pairing and Bluetooth connections (including Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse) have been successfully verified on both AX210 and BE200.

For Intel BE200 the current situation is different:

• Bluetooth functional
• Wi-Fi scanning and association observed sporadically
• Wi-Fi functionality currently incomplete and still under investigation

Additional configuration details:

• AMFIPass.kext 1.4.1 with boot argument -amfipassbeta
• Broadcom IOName spoofing under DeviceProperties of your config.plist (apply the correct device path provided by Hackintool -> Section PCIe)
• SecureBootModel = Disabled
• csr-active-config = 03080000
• AppleVTD disabled (DisableIOMapper = true)
• Same com.apple.iokit.IOSkywalkFamily replacement approach currently used under Sequoia
• Ensure the following NVRAM entries are present under: NVRAM → Add → 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 bluetoothExternalDongleFailed = 00 bluetoothInternalControllerInfo = 00000000 00000000 00000000 0000

Despite the positive results above, Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL) functionality currently appears unavailable on Intel Wi-Fi under macOS Tahoe 26.5 and later.

From earlier testing, I believe AWDL at least partially worked under earlier Tahoe releases (approximately Tahoe 26.2 / 26.3).

Current testing with Intel AX210 under macOS 26.5.1 and 26.6 beta 1 consistently shows the following behaviour:

ifconfig awdl0

returns:

ifconfig: interface awdl0 does not exist

As a consequence, the following AWDL-dependent functionality is currently unavailable:

• AirDrop
• Personal Hotspot
• Continuity Camera

This behaviour may indicate a regression between earlier Tahoe releases and Tahoe 26.5 / 26.6, although additional testing would be required to confirm this.

Any feedback from the OpenIntelWireless developers would be greatly appreciated.

Testing was performed under:

• macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 (25F80)
• macOS Tahoe 26.6 beta 1 (25G5028f)

The same AWDL behaviour was observed with both standard OCLP and OCLP-Mod 3.1.9.
