Before Submitting

  • I searched open and closed issues and discussions for an existing report.
  • I reproduced this bug on the latest release AND on the current dev branch, right before submitting this report. I did not just check an old version or rely on a check from days ago.
  • I understand that maintainers want a well-written issue before any code pull request.
  • This is not a security vulnerability.

Summary

After a model's reply is edited and saved, chat search can no longer find the chat by the words in that reply. The edited reply still shows correctly in the chat, also after a reload, but searching for its text returns nothing.

Expected Behavior

Chat search finds the chat by the edited reply's text, the same as it finds replies that were never edited.

Actual Behavior

Searching for a word from the edited reply does not list the chat.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In a new chat, ask "Name a fruit that is yellow." and wait for the reply.
  2. Click Edit on the reply, change the fruit to Pineapplezz, and click Save.
  3. Reload the page. The reply shows Pineapplezz.
  4. Press Ctrl+K and search for pineapplezz.
  5. The chat is not listed.

Use a word that is not in the chat's title, otherwise the title match hides the problem.

Logs, Screenshots, and Config

Additional Information

A reply keeps its text in two places: the structured output the chat displays, and a plain text copy that chat search reads. Saving an edited reply updates the structured output but empties the plain text copy, so search has nothing left to match. Replies that were never edited keep both, because the server fills the plain text copy from the output when it saves a reply.
