What is the technical debt you think should be addressed?
It looks like httpx is no longer maintained. https://github.com/encode/httpx hasn't seen any activity in more than half a year. The last release on PyPI was in December 2024.
The Pydantic community has created a friendly fork https://pypi.org/project/httpx2/ . It's not a drop-in replacement, though. You'll have to update all imports. It should be as simple as replacing s/httpx/httpx2/g or import httpx2 as httpx.
What is the benefit of addressing this technical debt?
HTTP libraries like httpx are security sensitive. If httpx stays unmaintained and unsupported, then upstream won't address CVEs in a timely fashion -- or not at all.
