What happened?

I'm using Affinity for various high end print productions. It's very capable, but it doesn't get on well with variable fonts. Unfortunately, one project uses Cascadia Code extensively, and the software just garbles it. Here's what the italic version of the font looks like on export:

The fix is easy; just uninstall variable fonts and install the static ones. I've done that in Windows/Fonts... but the font is still loading, even when I delete it.

When I go to Settings>Fonts, it tells me Cascadia still has 12 versions installed and that I can't remove them without removing Windows Terminal:

Is there a way to fix this? To select a different font for Terminal and then it will allow removal? I'd like to avoid entirely re-laying out a book, or deleting Terminal.
