Proposal: Number of system notifications as bubble number next to systems menu item

What feature do you want to see added?

The new manage Jenkins page features "number bubbles" next to some navigation items, e.g. the number of available plugin updates next to the plugins menu item. That same mechanism could be used to show the number of active notifications next to the system menu item. Mockup:

Would be slightly more informative than just the red dot in the main menu bar.

I'm not sure if mentions are wanted here in the project. If so, maybe one of the other core committers would just mention Jan Faracik, assuming that would fit into their recent work?
