Translate the README into your language

We maintain the README in English, Chinese, French, and Russian, and welcome community-maintained translations into any other language — see the open issues for languages already requested (Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Japanese, Korean).

Want to translate it into a language not listed? Comment here first naming the language (so two people don't duplicate work), then follow the same recipe as the language-specific issues: create README_<LANG>.md from the canonical English README.md, open with a one-line "community-maintained translation" note, keep code blocks/URLs/badges unchanged, and add your language to the switcher row in the existing READMEs.
