[Feature Request] Prevent desktop wallpaper from flickering while switching workspaces?

Describe the problem/motivation

When swapping between workspaces, there is a noticeable flicker/flash effect that is visible.

All in a fraction of a second, the following is visible on the screen:

1. The window on my current workspace
2. My desktop/wallpaper
3. The window on the workspace I switched to

Describe the solution you'd like

Is it possible to cut out 2) from the sequence to prevent the flash/flicker?

Alternatives considered

I tried changing the 'hide_method' config setting.
