fails to search subdir with lots of files

The void-packages repo (https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/) has a subdir `srcpkgs` containing around 14k directories (one dir for each package). Searching from the top dir won't work (returns nothing), but searching inside the srcpkgs dir works fine.
