bug: Chinese IME still cannot type in the Android terminal on 0.5.2 (regression of #3390)

What's broken

On the Android app, a Chinese IME still cannot type Chinese into a workspace terminal. Switching to a Pinyin keyboard and composing Chinese does not land Han characters in the PTY.

This is the same surface as #3390 (Chinese/Japanese IME composition dropped in mobile terminals). That issue was closed as fixed in #3391, with:

Fixed in #3391. That is on main and not in a published release yet, so it ships in the next one. Reopen if you still see it after updating.

We cannot reopen #3390 (not the original reporter). Posting a new report after updating to the published release that claimed the fix.

0.5.0 changelog listed this as fixed:

Fixed CJK IME composition being cancelled in text fields and mobile terminals (#2811, #3343, #3391, #3462, #3517)

We are on 0.5.2 (released 2026-08-24). Chinese IME in the in-app terminal is still unusable.

Expected: type nihao with a Chinese IME, select 你好, and have 你好 appear in the terminal.

The chat composer is not the problem. Pasting Chinese into the terminal works as a workaround. Latin input in the same terminal works.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Paseo Android 0.5.2.
2. Open a workspace terminal (any host; not specific to a provider).
3. Switch the software keyboard to a Chinese IME (Pinyin).
4. Type Chinese (e.g. nihao → 你好).
5. The terminal does not receive the committed Chinese text.

0.5.2 (released 2026-08-24). Paired daemons are also 0.5.2.

OS version

Android (software keyboard / Chinese IME). Desktop/CLI not involved.

Not relevant. This is terminal text input, including a plain shell, not an agent composer.

Logs

Not a crash. No daemon error. The failure is on the Android terminal input path (packages/app/src/terminal/native-renderer/terminal-input.native.tsx per #3390 / #3391).
