Place - hide or delete

I added several Places. All fine, just that they are cluttering my screen.

1. Can they be deleted? I cannot find any way to do this.
2. Can they be hidden? Maybe show up only if the day's track is within x meters range? Otherwise, they are simply cluttering the screen...
