Attempt to add custom merge while beams have not finished produces "Some replies are still generating. Merge what's ready?" dialog even though adding custom merge does not start the merge

What's happening?

When in Beam Mode, attempts to add custom merge while beams have not finished generating produces "Some replies are still generating. Merge what's ready?" dialog. However, unlike standard or persona merges, adding custom merge does not start the merge. You need to press "play" (green triangle) icon at the top right corner of the merge window.

It is useful to be able to add and configure custom merges while I am waiting for beams to finish generating.

On the flip side, pressing "play" (green triangle) icon on the already existing merges (from previously loaded beam+merge team) starts the merge without "Some replies are still generating. Merge what's ready?" dialog even when no beams have finished generating. And I see thinking block on such prematurely started merge complaining that alternatives are empty.
