Sluggish or stalling UI in some scenarios

What's happening?

I notice UI being sluggish or even stalling in a couple of scenarios.

The biggest one happens when a good number of beams or merges are being streamed and the length of streamed messages reached a certain number.

At roughly 10 beams or merges each reaching 50K tokens, the UI stalls and I start seeing messages from the browser (Firefox) that that a script is taking too long to finish and suggesting to stop it. If I give it enough time, the message streaming completes and the UI unfreezes.

Another case are preferences dialogs. The easiest repro is to go into a service provider dialog with large number of models and move the mouse pointer up and down over the list of models. I see the highlight noticeably lagging behind the mouse cursor.

For comparison, in the main chat window, when I move the mouse up and down the list of chats, the highlight tracks the mouse pointer with more responsiveness.
