Overview
Create a completely simulated biotechnology study to evaluate the effect of different carbon sources on CO2 production during fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Experimental Design
Treatment Groups (6 treatments, 5 replicates each):
- T0: Control - medium without carbon source
- T1: Glucose
- T2: Fructose
- T3: Sucrose
- T4: Maltose
- T5: Lactose
Constant Conditions:
- Sugar concentration: 20 g/L
- Temperature: 30°C
- Initial pH: 5.0
- Working volume: 50 mL
- Simulated inoculum: 1 g/L
- Microaerobic fermentative condition
- Measurement times: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 minutes
Methodological Workflow
- Carbon source selection
- Preparation of six simulated treatments
- Virtual inoculation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae
- Simulated fermentation over 60 minutes
- Accumulated CO2 recording
- Generation of 210 longitudinal observations
- Obtain 30 statistical units
- Descriptive analysis
- Evaluate normality and homogeneity
- Select one statistical route:
- ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc test, OR
- Welch and Games-Howell post-hoc test, OR
- Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn post-hoc test
- Generate tables and figures
- Interpretation limited to simulated scenario
Important Notes
- All data completely simulated. No laboratory experimentation was conducted.
- Do not include numerical results, p-values, or statistical conclusions in outputs
- Clearly indicate simulation status in all diagrams and documentation
