[feature request] connect via unix sockets?

While baseline support for http is great, for the most high performance of use cases, the time lost on the http wire can also be saved?

Redis (which is a fair thing to benchmark against) has the ability to connect over .sock, so for feature completeness would be a good thing to support here as well ?
