Non-functioning menu items

The problem

Nothing happens when clicking on some menu items that are not disabled.

How to reproduce:

1. Choose "close window" from the Window menu.
2. Choose "Show repository list" from the View menu.
3. Nothing happens.

Since the menu item is not disabled, I expect to see the list of repositories in a new window.

If I then choose "Add Local Repository" from the file menu, I still see nothing, but a lot of the menu items that were enabled become disabled. For example, "Show repository list", all file menu items, Settings, and About are then disabled.
