This is a complete rewrite of dcm4che-2.x.

One main focus was to minimize the memory footprint of the DICOM data sets. It already provides modules to store/fetch configuration data to/from LDAP, compliant to the DICOM Application Configuration Management Profile, specified in DICOM PS 3.15, Annex H.

dcm4che uses a native library (weasis-core-img, a JNI build of OpenCV) for the compression and decompression of images. Here is the list of supported systems and architectures:

The Linux libraries are dynamically linked against glibc, so they require a glibc-based distribution at the minimum version listed above and do not run on musl-based systems such as Alpine without a glibc compatibility layer. The Windows library uses a static C++ runtime and needs no Visual C++ redistributable.
The native library is CPU-only (no GPU/OpenCL path) with SIMD runtime dispatch (AVX2/AVX-512 on x86-64, NEON on aarch64). 32-bit architectures (linux-armv7a, windows-x86) are no longer shipped.

Build

Make sure you have Java 17 (JDK) or newer installed.

Run the Maven Wrapper script for building:

./mvnw install
