Simple single-input mode

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. As complex and optioned as this solution is, there is no option for a simple single-item textbox that doesn't require the user to press enter to submit an item and simply backspace the existing item to modify or remove it.

Describe the solution you'd like An option for a "text" input that simply allows text to be entered or deleted. I want this to go along with combobox behavior.

Describe alternatives you've considered I've looked through all the options and have found none that change the "press enter" behavior.
