Howdy not working on Pop os (cosmic) login screen, and cant disable it either.

I'm trying to setup howdy on my laptop with newest pop os installed. Howdy works with sudo, but not when trying to log in. The ir camera fires and howdy tries to log in, but gets "authentication failed". And I when I try to toggle howdy off for the login screen, it stays on. So logging in with the password only works if I close the physical camera cover :I

I've searched for similar issues already, and my issue has not been reported yet.
