Uninstallation process lagging

The application itself starts or runs ok but when I select and start uninstalling any application, it gets stuck, and the wait period gets longer after each screen. First, it takes time to scan for the application that needs to be killed; then it takes even longer to show the begin uninstallation screen; then it takes even more time than the last time to actually start uninstalling the application.
