Hi AutoMQ team, This is general feedback, not a bug report. First of all, great work on AutoMQ — the README is very detailed and clearly shows the value of a diskless Kafka architecture on S3. The real-world use cases and cost-saving examples make the project very convincing. From a new user / learner perspective, I have a few small suggestions that could make onboarding even smoother:
- Beginner overview section It would be helpful to add a short “AutoMQ in simple terms” section at the top, explaining:
- How AutoMQ differs from Apache Kafka at a high level
- When someone should choose AutoMQ over Kafka
- Typical use cases in 2–3 bullet points
- Quick Start navigation The README contains many powerful features and deployment options. A small “Recommended path for first-time users” (e.g. start with single-node Docker, then cluster, then cloud) would help avoid information overload.
- Performance & latency expectations The performance claims are impressive. A small table summarizing:
- Open-source vs Enterprise latency
- Common workloads vs expected latency ranges would help set clear expectations for new users. Overall, this is a very strong README and a well-engineered project. I’ve starred the repository and look forward to following AutoMQ’s progress. Thanks for open-sourcing this! Best regards, Aditya Pathak
