Feature & Documentation: Presets
I don't want to fumble creating presets in a tiny window with ~24 characters width. I want to use the tools that are good for text editing (ie: vim).
EXPLICITLY STATE IN THE DOCUMENTATION THAT CLOSING BTOP OVERWRITES YOUR CONFIGURATION. ( And please consider adjusting this behavior ).
That being said, there is no clear way of creating Presets. Even when I close btop and edit my file, when I open btop it immediately destroys my file. I have absolutely zero way of iterating through different attempts to get it working, because each time everything I change is completely blown away.
Anytime I try using the Menu > General > Presets, the next time I load btop and try to load that preset, it crashes:
ERROR: Exception in main loop -> Input::process("p") : unordered_map::atI can't believe how much time I've spent just trying to show all my GPUs on a page without anything else. And I still don't have it. I absolutely cannot figure out what you expect of me and how to configure the presets.
Please allow us to manage our Presets in a separate file, or in a way that our changes aren't destroyed. It's way, WAY to easy to have btop just blow everything away. When Presets are loaded from a separate file, we cannot edit them from btop: Totally okay with me.
Another approach is, since you control Preset 0... then when you save out the configuration file, preserve our Prefix configuration and keep your Preset 0 hard-coded and only used as an example string in the configuration file.
We can have 9 presets, so make it easy:
preset_1 = "YOUR PRESET"
preset_2 = "YOUR PRESET
...
preset_9 = "YOUR PRESET"
preset = 2 # Preset 2 is seen when btop loadsThank you for all the work you put into btop, it's amazing and I'm very glad I came across it. I'd like to be able to customize it and not have a stroke trying.
Thank you for your consideration.
