[Feature Request] --start-date show the state of the repository before running through changes

We currently run out of several long lived repositories that have seen lots of changes over the course of their lives (oldest one was first started in 1998 and the youngest repository was started in 2001). Currently when I start up gource using the --start-date option it only shows files that are added/changed after that date and doesn't first graph the files/directories in the repository at that time. This means that files that are deleted from the repository flash up and then disappear again. It would be nice if the state of the repository was first graphed as it was just before that start date and then changes show up relative to the full tree.
