OpenAI is expanding access to advanced cybersecurity capabilities through Daybreak, a defender-focused program that connects frontier cyber models, Codex Security and partner initiatives to established security workflows.

The expansion is not positioned as open consumer access.

Instead, qualified individuals and organizations can obtain additional defensive capabilities through Trusted Access for Cyber, a framework built around verification, authenticated environments, scope controls and ongoing oversight.

The policy matters because OpenAI is making a clearer distinction between broadly useful AI assistance and higher-risk cybersecurity work.
